To comply with relevant National legislation for construction as well as insurance requirements Pre-construction soil treatment for wood destroying organisms is needed to ensure the structural integrity of new developments.
In addition to this, soil treatments for various plants species can be done before construction to ensure that paved areas remain in tip top shape.
Existing buildings and pavements can also be treated for these types of organisms which ensures that these structures are kept pest free and in good working condition.
An entomology certificate certifies that a structure is free from wood destroying organisms and although not a legal requirement, most prospective buyers will require such a certificate to ensure that the integrity of the structure/s on the property they are buying is guaranteed.
An entomology certificate is valid for three months and like an Electrical Compliance Certificate it will be the seller of the property who is responsible for the cost thereof as well as for any associated work that needs to be done to eradicate pests should they be present.
These certificates must be issued by a qualified person who is registered with the South African Pest Control Association.
